HBO Max's Euphoria has quickly become one of the most talked-about shows on television, thanks to its raw and controversial portrayal of the lives of a group of high school students. From its frank discussions of sex, drugs, and mental health to its stunning visuals and intense performances, Euphoria has captivated audiences and critics alike. And now, the show is taking things to the next level with a major change to its production format.

Starting with the second season, Euphoria will switch to an all-film format, using a stylized mixture of Kodak's unique EKTACHROME 5294 format, reconstituted specifically for this show, and KODAK VISION3 500T Color Negative Film 5219. This is a bold move for the show, which had previously used a mix of digital and film formats in its first season. According to the show's creators, the switch to all-film will allow them to create a more visually stunning and immersive experience for viewers.

"We wanted to create a world that felt more grounded and real, and using film, we're able to capture the rawness and intensity of the show's themes in a way that's never been done before." - Sam Levinson

The use of Kodak's Ektachrome 5294 format is particularly noteworthy, as it's a film stock that hasn't been produced in more than a decade. But Kodak worked closely with the Euphoria production team to reconstitute the film specifically for this show, allowing them to achieve a unique visual style that's both gritty and beautiful.

Of course, the switch to all-film is also a major logistical undertaking for the show's producers, as it requires a different approach to filming and post-production. But the creators of Euphoria are confident that the benefits of the new format will outweigh the challenges.

So far, the response from fans and critics to the news of Euphoria's switch to all-film has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement about the show's continued evolution. And with the show already having won multiple awards and garnering a devoted following, it seems that Euphoria is only getting started.
